i am really sick and tired of how language is understood in tumblr world. REALLy sick of it, I can hardly even bear to read posts about—most times I scroll right by.

just—I don’t use offensive language (i.e. bitch, dick head, motha fucka, dick smack, cock face, etc etc etc) because i am suffering from some internalized oppression that a white person needs to compassionately point out to me. i use offensive language as a practice of my class, gender and race to name oppression and defend myself from others violence. a bitch is a fucking bitch that is using her power to hurt me. i learned that from other poor women of color working at menial back breaking work for next to nothing and barely surviving, just like me. we hadn’t gone to college, we didn’t have time to read about axis of oppression etc on our spare time—that was for sleeping.

calling a man a cocksucking mother fucker? was defending myself from his sexual violence. working as the only woman in a menial back breaking job that just barely paid enough to survive on? cocksucking mother fucker got him to stop grabbing my tits, and rubbing his cock on my ass whenever he walked by me. it was the brick and mortar of my protective wall. no, i don’t fucking “want you” you slimey dick face.

of course—now, i’m not in that same place. i’ve been to university, i have the words for naming oppression, and i have other tools besides my fists and my tongue to fight it.

so i try to curb words like “cocksucker” because it insinuates there’s something wrong with being a cocksucker. but you know what? any man comes after me again, i will not shrink from using that word instantaneously and without hesitation. just like i will not hesitate to use the word bitch (and i used it often even now—). there is not one single fucking thing wrong with being a working class poor person who uses their extensive knowledge of curse words to protect themselves. and i get REALLY frustrated with all the social justice folks who don’t at least fucking complicate their analysis outside of “internalized oppression.” try external oppression. beating down on a working girl’s body like fists. and if i have to fight back by calling that oppression a bitch instead of a white woman who is exercising her privilege, i fucking will.

I think the only time I get upset when called a bitch is when it is by a man, especially when they are calling me a bitch in response to me being assertive. I think the power dynamic is extremely important in exchanges like this, just like this post talks about.
